Glucose content of the body fluid in marine annelids.

چکیده

Bahl (1) maintains that there are 100 mg. of glucose in 100 cc. of earthworm blood but that there is no sugar in the coelomic fluid. On the other hand, Damboviceanu (2) found no reducing sugar in the plasma from Xipunculus n&us. There is no information in the literature concerning the sugar content of the body fluid in marine annelids from the American coast. A series of analyses was, consequently, made to ascertain the amount of glucose in two common North American marine worms.

Numerical simulation of flow hydrodynamic around dolphin body in viscous fluid

The biomimetic and hydrodynamic study of aquatic animals is one of the most challenging computational fluid dynamics topics in recent studies due to the complexity of body geometry and the type of flow field. The movement of the aquatic body, and particularly the tail section and the corresponding movement of fluid around the body, causes an unsteady flow and requires a comprehensive study of t...

Hydrodynamic Improvement of underwater glider by Computational Fluid Dynamics method

Gliders are new marine vehicles which have research and military uses and they move by sequent diving and climbing. Suitable design of its main body and wings are important for the most advance velocity. hydrodynamic design variables are main body form, wings (cross section, dimensions, shape, longitudinal and vertical position) and hydrostatic parameters (static trim angle, amount of added for...

Size and organic content of eggs of marine annelids, and the underestimation of egg energy content by dichromate oxidation.

Dichromate oxidation is a simple technique that is often Ilsed to estimate the energy content of eggs in studies of marine invertebrate life histories (1). We used this method to measure the energy contents af the eggs of 12 species of marine annelids. In combinati on with measures of egg ash free dry weight (AFDW), these data yielded estimates of AFDW-specific energy density that were mostly ...

Investigation of stepped planning hull hydrodynamics using computational fluid dynamics and response surface method

The use of step at the bottom of the hull is one of the effective factors in reducing the resistance and increasing the stability of the Planning hull. The presence of step at the bottom of this type of hulls creates a separation in the flow, which reduces the wet surface on the hull, thus reducing the drag on the body, as well as reducing the dynamic trim. In this study, a design space was cre...

تحلیل عددی نیروهای پسا و برا وارد بر بدنه‌ی زیر دریایی بدون سرنشین UUV

When the body is running at fully immersed condition in viscous fluid, there are two components of resistance, i.e. frictional resistance and form drag. When it is near the free surface, the additional drag encountered to the body which is wave-making drag. This paper is presents the hydrodynamic performance of high-speed Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) in fully immersed condition. We did 100...
